My blog is entitled JOURNEYS because of this man.

In 1883, after a journey from his birth village Doriapur, Uttar Pradesh, he arrived at the seaport in Calcutta (now Kolkata). A young man in search of himself on his journey to Mauritius.
. I filled my suitcase with dreams and hopes
In 1972 another young man was making a journey from a tiny village of Ernest Florent in the east of Mauritius. That was me, following the travelling instinct of my grandfather. I came to England aged 19 to pursue a career in nursing and nurse education. After 41 years I retired in September 2012 to explore my creative side. I plan to travel, cook, garden and spend quality time with our four grandchildren Asher, Eden, Miles and Clara. I will be using this blog to document my personal history and my current and future experiences, particularly my travels and pilgrimages.
